In recent years, passengers have benefited from record levels of rail investment, but still face an age-old problem – ticket confusion. Whilst travelling in different countries can be complex enough for passengers, even catching a train in your neighbouring city can be challenging.
In a survey by UK consumer group Which?, only one per cent of respondents could understand the various ticket types for rail, whilst 70 per cent of ticket machines still don’t tell passengers about the cheapest fare. This confusion stretches further when we remember that travelling often involves more than one mode of public transport.
